DesignCalcs 2023.3.0.6708 Release Notes
Build 2023.3.0.6708
Release status - March 14, 2023
To access the latest DesignCalcs installation file, click DesignCalcs Download
During installation, if an issue occurs with the Sentinel Run-Time Environment Installer, cancel the install and go to Installing or Updating the Windows Driver for the Hasp License for steps on how to complete a sentinel hasp installation. Once this is completed, install DesignCalcs again.
For a quick demo of the updates listed below, watch the following video:
New Features
DesignCalcs now supports the option to run three user-defined seismic cases and three user-defined wind cases per loading condition (e.g. Operating Pressurized). Previously, only one per loading condition was supported by the software. The user may customize these wind and seismic load case descriptions as well as the multipliers on the dead load (Cde), the wind load (Cwi), the horizontal seismic load (Ceh) and the vertical seismic load (Cev). The following is now supported in the software:
For user-defined wind, the wind load multiplier for each case is multiplied by the projected area and wind pressure to display the wind force results.
The dead load multiplier for each case is multiplied by the weight to display the resulting dead load.
For the user-defined seismic, the horizontal seismic load multiplier for each case is multiplied by the weight to display the horizontal seismic force.
The sum of dead load multiplier and the vertical seismic multiplier (Cde + Cev) for each case is multiplied by the weight to display the resulting dead load and vertical seismic load.
With this update, the software now supports a multitude of design scenarios including the use of ASME BPV VIII, Division 2 load case multipliers and third party specification requirements on multipliers. DC-9491
Improvements have been made to the Hydro Test condition to include a new option to use either Design Pressure or Max Pressure values. Old vessels are now updated to Design Pressure, and new vessels default to Max Pressure but both can be changed. Max Pressure now uses the greater of Design Pressure or Specified Test Pressure. At this time, this update affects the Tower Analysis, Zick Analysis and Leg reports. DC-9650
Improvements have been made to the drawing of lifting lugs on Ellipsoidal and Hemispherical Heads. DC-9698, DC-9697
The DesignCalcs export to Autodesk Inventor has been expanded to include the various rated flange types when added to main components (shells and heads). The rated flange types are Blind, Slip On, Weld Neck, Socket Weld, Threaded and Lap. DC-9703, DC-9704, DC-9705, DC-9706, DC-9707, DC-9708
Note:
Additional features relating to the Autodesk Inventor export will be expanded over the next several releases. For more information, see the Autodesk Inventor Integration page.

Issues Resolved
The following updates have been made to the Tower Analysis and Leg, Lug/Support Ring calculations:
The Tower Analysis calculation now adjusts the center of gravity, the center of projected wind area and the total projected wind area to consider the top heads and bottom heads straight flange length. The software already considers the weight.
The Leg, Lug/Support Ring calculation now adjusts the center of gravity, the center of projected wind area and the total projected wind area to consider the top and bottom heads straight flange length. The software already considers the weight. DC-9502
The Lug/Support Ring calculation now correctly zeros out the top bar thickness, tt, for designs where there is no top bar. The issue would only occur in cases where the design was altered from one with a top bar to one without one. DC-6643
The NozzlePRO export button is no longer enabled for cases where the functionality has not been added (e.g. nozzle in nozzle). DC-9454
Miscellaneous
The Dish Cover Head type (per Appendix 1-6(g)) now shows “n/a” for the joint efficiency in the input screen and on the report as opposed to 100% as the formulas do not have a joint efficiency. DC-7877
