This release of DesignCalcs includes all the covered 2021 code changes except the changes to Cone to Cylinder Analysis (Appendices 1-5 and 1-8). Those changes will be published in the next release. The most critical changes are present and have been rolled out in this release and a few previous releases. Users will still see the active development message when selecting the 2021 year until we publish the cone to cylinder changes.
New Features
2021 code changes are still being rolled out in this release and in the next release. The option to select 2021 now exists and can be selected in the vessel screen. An informative note to the the user will appear, when 2021 is selected, letting them know that it is in active development. The default code year will remain 2019 until code changes are complete. DC-7037
The 2021 material line changes per ASME Section II, D have been implemented added into the software. These include tables 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3, 5A, 5B, Y-1 and U for both the Customary and Metric versions. This also includes the errata that were released to the Section II Committee page on November 11 and are yet to be published. You can find those here: https://cstools.asme.org/csconnect/CommitteePages.cfm?Committee=N20060000&CommitteeErrata=yes . Between both books and the errata, several materials were added, altered and deleted in all tables. Previous releases of DesignCalcs included the other changes from SC II and SC VIII, Division 1 in regards to materials. DC-7568
Issues Resolved
An issue was resolved for Torishperical/ASME F&D heads. The outside dimension equations were using the inside crown radius, resulting in an artificially low required thickness. This is unlikely to cause a major change except for heads with a smaller diameter to thickness ratio. In addition, the tmin(external) equation for code years 2019 and older was incorrectly showing the outside dimension equations even though the result is always based in inside dimensions. DC-7852
An issue was resolved for Set-In Studded Outlets involving the weld details. The detail requirements for weld 42 were not properly based on sketch (p-2) of Figure UW-16.1. In addition the report would incorrectly state the weld detail requirements were not satisfied in some cases, even when they were. DC-6285
An issue was resolved with Custom Appendix 2 flanges. The calculation of the effective pressure was using the wrong G value in some cases, even though it was displaying the correct G value. This will only affect designs that considered external loads and only in some cases. It is unlikely to have a significant effect; but may increase or decrease the resulting P value. DC-7737
