Nozzle
Nozzles are openings in other components such as heads, reducers, and cylindrical shells. The nozzle methodology comes from the following Section VIII, Division 1 paragraphs:
- UG-37 (Reinforcement)
- UG-39 (Reinforcement in flat heads)
- UG-40 (Limits of Reinforcement)
- UG-41 (Weld Path Strength)
- UG-45 (Nozzle Neck Thickness)
- UW-15 (Weld Unit Strength)
- UW-16 (Weld Details)
- Appendix 1-7(a) (Compact Reinforcement)
- Appendix 1-7(b) (Large Opening Rigidity)
DesignCalcs will flag a design as passing or failing for all of these cases except UW-16. In this case, the user is warned if the design violates our interpretation of the code; but it will not be flagged as failed.
