Saddle
Saddle
Two saddle support design, for horizontal vessels, is primarily based on "Stress in Large Horizontal Cylindrical Pressure Vessels on Two Saddle Supports" by L.P. Zick. The original methodology has recieived some alterations based on later sources such as the ASME Section VIII, Division 2. DesignCalcs covers the following options:
- Sliding saddle
- Shell stiffened by adjacent head
- Shell stiffened by a ring in the plane of the saddle
- Shell stiffened by rings adjacent to the saddle
- Options to turn on and off the calculation of the saddle itself (the saddle calculations were not in the original paper by Zick)
- Centered saddle web
- Off-set saddle web
