AWS D9.1 (Sheet Metal Welding)

AWS D1.9's implementation into ProWrite allows users the ability to enter, store, and access their Nonstructural Sheet Metal Welding documents as well as their welders from within ProWrite Welding Software.

AWS D9.1 is the nonstructural sheet metal welding code developed by The American Welding Society to provide standardized requirements for the qualification, production and acceptance of welding or braze welding of nonstructural sheet metal components and systems for general use in the following industrial areas; heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, food processing equipment, architectural sheet metal and other nonstructural sheet metal applications.

This code contains the requirements for the fabrication, manufacture and erection of nonstructural sheet metal components and systems for sheet metal thickness up to and including 0.2391 in. (6.07 mm). When this code is stipulated in the contract documents, conformance with all provisions of the code shall be required, except those provisions that the engineer or contract documents specifically modifies or exempts.

Alternate requirements from those in this code shall be submitted to the engineer for approval. These requirements shall be based on experience, experimental evidence or engineering analysis and shall consider materials, loads and environment.

These documents are geared toward the development of welding procedures and welder and welding operator performance qualification specifically in the nonstructural sheet metal arena.
