AWS D1.2 (Structural Aluminum Welding Code)

AWS D1.2’s implementation into ProWrite allows users the ability to enter, store, and access their Structural Aluminum Welding documents as well as their welders from within ProWrite Welding Software.

AWS D1.2 is the structural aluminum welding code developed by The American Welding Society for construction of aluminum components.

This code contains the requirements for fabricating and erecting welded aluminum structures. When this code is stipulated in the contract documents, conformance with all provisions of the code shall be required, except those provisions that the Engineer or contract documents specifically modifies or specifically exempts.

Alternate requirements from those in this code shall be submitted to the Engineer for approval. These requirements shall be based on experience, experimental evidence, or engineering analyses, and shall consider materials, loads, and environment.

Theses document are geared toward the development of welding procedures and welder and welding operator performance qualification specifically in the aluminum arena.

“This code is not intended for specialized fabrication such as pressure vessels or pressure piping.”
