Thin Wall Expansion Joint

Thin Wall Expansion Joint (Bellows) are designed per the methodology from Appendix 26 in ASME Section VIII, Division 1.  Note that these are the less common of the two supported expansion joints in DesignCalcs.  A 2015 vessel will use the rules for 2013 thin wall expansion joints, if one is designed; this is noted in the bellows output.  The options include:

  • Unreinforced U Shaped
  • Reinforced U Shaped (with and without fasteners)
  • Toroidal
  • Collars
