WeldProject - Element Workspace

Canvas

There are multiple ways to add elements to your project canvas. You can add elements via the ribbon, the right click menu, the vessel wizard, or by dragging a file from explorer and dropping it on your canvas.

When the cursor is selected, you are able to drag elements around the canvas and resize them. If you wish to select multiple elements, hold shift while clicking on the elements in your canvas. To delete an element, select it with the cursor and then click the delete button or push control+delete on your keyboard. Connections can be expanded and collapsed by clicking the + and - signs at the connection points.

The most straightforward way of adding elements and creating connections is the ribbon. Click on an element icon in the ribbon and then click anywhere in your canvas to add that element to your project. You may also right click an element on the canvas and add a connection to another element from there.

Another method of adding elements to your project is the Vessel Wizard. If you have DesignCalcs, click the Vessel Wizard button and navigate to your DC data folder. Select the vessel you wish to import and click open.

Edit and delete the joints as you prefer, then click Finish to import the vessel. The components and connections will appear on your canvas where you can manipulate them just like any other WeldProject element. The elements in the project are not connected to the vessel once they have been imported, so changing the elements will not change your vessel and changing your vessel will not have any effect on your project.

Finally, you may choose to add elements directly from Windows explorer. To do this, drag the file you want onto the WeldProject canvas. When you drop the file, WeldProject will prompt you to declare what type of element you wish to associate with the file.

Select the type, click Ok, and the new element will appear where you dropped the file. It can now be moved, resized, edited, and deleted just like any other element in your project. Deleting the element from the canvas does not delete the associated file.
