Soft License(SL) - Offline Activation Steps

If you have landed on this page, that probably means that your Automatic Online Activation of an CEI SL License has failed to complete on it’s own for some various reason. When this happens, the next step is to perform an manual offline activation of the SL License. Please follow the steps below to complete the Offline Activation.

If you have not already done so, please download and install the file linked below.

On the same Sentinel EMS page where you clicked the Online Activation button, you should see an Offline activation button. Click that Offline Activation button.

Note that the below images are example images and that what you will see for Products will vary based on what you have ordered.

You should then see an Generate License page with your order details. Click the "RUS" link to download the RUS Utility/Tool to the machine where you want the license applied to.

Once the RUS tool is downloaded, minimize the Sentinel EMS page and please open/launch the RUS tool. With Collect Status Information tab in focus, press the “Installation of new protection key” radio button. Next, click the “Collect Information” button. This will bring up an Save Dialog window. Give the file any name you want and save the file to your desktop. You will see that the new file(with the name you gave it) has an .C2V file extension. Once the “<NameYouChose>.C2V” file is saved to your desktop, return to the Sentinel EMS web page.

In the Upload C2V section of the page, you should see a field that is called “Upload C2V:”. To the right of that field is a little button with three "..." on it. Click that button and browse to your desktop and select the “<NameYouChose>.C2V” file that you created in the previous step. Now click the “Generate” button at the bottom of the page. This will take you to another page and offer you an “<SomeFileName>.V2C” file that you can download. Please download that file to the your desktop.

Minimize the Sentinel EMS page. Return to the RUS Tool. Click the Apply License File tab. Click the little button with the "..." on it and browse to your desktop and select the “<SomeFileName>.V2C” file that you just downloaded from the Sentinel EMS page. Once you have selected the file, click the Apply Update button to apply the license to this machine.

This should complete the offline activation of an CEI Soft License(SL) License.
